Having returned to the UK after eight years running a business abroad, I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do workwise. As with many of the peculiar twists we face in our lives, selling hosiery came about quite by accident.

It all started when I bought a pair of overknee socks with a frill at the top in a sale for my daughter. She didn't particularly like them, so I added a bow and a diamante seam and put them on Ebay. They sold within a day so I went back, bought more pairs and done the same again. Seeing a business opportunity, I began buying from wholesalers and thats when I first noticed how hosiery had progressed in the fashion world and was now a style statement in its own right. I was astounded at all the beautiful designs and ranges available.

Instead of buying a new set of clothes for every night out like I used to - accessorizing with a different pair of holdups,stockings or tights can make it look like you are wearing a completely new outfit, and at a third of the price - how brilliant is that? I just wish this hosiery phenomena had happened whilst I still had the legs to wear it!

The natural progression was to build and open my own online hosiery shop selling good value tights, socks and stockings coupled with excellent customer service, and my experience of working abroad dealing with people of all nationalities and languages has given me the qualities needed to do just that.

I have been a fan of the 50's since my teenage years when I began following the music, driving classic cars and wearing vintage clothing from the era - including the lingerie which could be extremely uncomfortable! Although Swanky Pins began life 3 years ago as purely a hosiery retailer, the retro style lingerie revival has influenced us and my own love of these styles has meant widening our range of products to include suspender belts, girdles, and various other types of shapewear inspired by the glamorous 1950s pin up girls.

Although our range is not as vast yet as we would like, we hope to more than make up for this on the products we do sell by giving great customer service, competitive prices and fast delivery - we'll even gift wrap them for free and send them to any address if requested.
